  Tourism Hot Spots

Singapore has many attractions for you, your family and visitors to explore. Here are a few hot spots that are a must-see on anybody’s list.

Little India: Exotic scents and sounds beckon visitors to the heart of Singapore’s Indian community at Serangoon Road. You will find ornate brassware, gorgeous silk saris, exquisite gold jewellery, incense, spices and much more lining the alleys. Eat a traditional meal off a banana leaf and explore the temples and old shophouses. The culture of Little India is influenced heavily by Hinduism, so make sure to drop by the beautiful Sri Veerama Kaliamman Temple and Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple.

Arab Street: Within walking distance of Little India and Bugis St, this area surrounds the largest mosque in Singapore, the Sultan Mosque. At intervals during the day, the bustle of the area is pierced by calls to prayer. Fridays are a good day to visit as Muslims crowd the area for congregational prayers. Browse colourful batiks, lace, organza and other beautiful textiles as well as shophouses overflowing with rattan-ware, jewellery, hand-blended perfumes, leather goods and more.

Chinatown: Surrounding South Bridge Road, these narrow streets are home to Singapore’s Chinatown. The shophouses have been restored, and are now home to up-scale restaurants, cozy bars, eclectic shops, offices and homes. Amidst these, you will still find antique stores and Chinese medical halls. The Chinatown Heritage Centre, along Pagoda St, features exhibits into Chinatown’s past. The oldest Hindu temple in Singapore is also located in Chinatown, on the corner of Pagoda St and South Bridge Road.
